Before you request a pallet quote

Get a useful quotation by matching the pallet to your load, receiving site and required condition.

Confirm the specification

Give the destination, pallet format and treatment/marking requirements. ISPM 15 is a plant-health treatment, not a hygiene or load-capacity certificate.

Share the order and delivery details

Send the quantity (minimum 100), delivery country and postcode, preferred date and unloading equipment. For regular supply, include your expected order frequency.

Check customer acceptance

Confirm your customer’s pallet, hygiene and handling requirements. Final availability, specification, price and delivery are agreed in the written quotation.

The quoted price depends on the format, condition, quantity, treatment and delivery requirements.

Quick answer: A heat-treated pallet has been heated until the core of the wood reaches at least 56 °C for 30 minutes, which kills insects and larvae. It then carries the ISPM 15 mark: the IPPC symbol, the country code (BE), the producer's registration number and HT. This mark is required for wooden pallets shipped outside the EU.

What is ISPM 15?

ISPM 15 is the international standard for wood packaging material, published under the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC). It aims to stop pests such as wood-boring beetles from travelling with packaging. Most countries outside the EU apply it at their borders.

The standard accepts a small number of treatments. In the EU, heat treatment (HT) is the main method. Fumigation with methyl bromide (MB) has been banned in the EU since 2010.

When do you need heat-treated pallets?

  • Exports outside the EU: to the UK, the United States, China, Africa, the Middle East and most other destinations.
  • Shipments within the EU: generally exempt, except for specific plant-health protected zones.
  • Customer requirements: some food, pharma and export customers ask for HT pallets even for domestic flows.

Rules can change by destination. Check the current import requirements of the destination country before shipping.

The ISPM 15 mark explained

Every treated pallet carries the mark on at least two opposite sides.

Heat-treated pallet questions

What does HT mean on a pallet?
HT means heat-treated. The wood was heated until its core reached at least 56 °C for 30 minutes, as required by ISPM 15.
Do I need ISPM 15 pallets within Europe?
Shipments between EU member states are generally exempt. You need ISPM 15 pallets for exports outside the EU, including to the United Kingdom.
Does heat treatment prevent mould?
No. Heat treatment kills pests but does not stop mould. Pallets should be stored dry and ventilated after treatment.
Are plastic pallets an alternative?
Yes. ISPM 15 only applies to wood packaging material, so plastic pallets can be exported without treatment.
Are used EPAL pallets heat-treated?
New EPAL pallets are. For used EPAL pallets, ISPM 15 treatment is not guaranteed, so check the mark on each pallet or order new HT pallets for exports.
What is the minimum order?
We supply from 100 pallets.
